John Baird SA Fin, Former Chief Technology Officer, Deutsche Bank AG Australia and New Zealand will discuss the value of data and the emergent risks surrounding cyber security, and Helen Lorigan F Fin, Executive in Residence, Sapien Ventures, will outline the fintech threats and opportunities in a globalised world and how digital distribution in online financial marketplaces are creating low cost avenues for investing, lending and raising capital across borders.

John Baird SA Fin

John’s current roles include Director of Revio Cyber Security. He is also an Advisor to the NSW Department of Finance, Services and Innovation and member of the NSW Government ICT Industry Advisory Panel of which he chaired for over 2 years and was the former Director of Global Technology Production and Chief Technology Officer Australia & New Zealand at Deutche Bank.
Through these roles, John gained broad reach across all facets of the business. He has a strong understanding and experienced perspectives on innovation within the financial services industry.
He has more than 30 years of private sector experience in delivering change management and implementing and adopting information communications and technology solutions that align with business goals. John received his Masters of Computer Forensics, Digital Forensics from Macquarie University.
Helen Lorigan F Fin
Helen was appointed early this year as an Executive in Residence for Sapien Ventures, a venture capital group with partners based in Sydney, Silicon Valley, Melbourne and Shanghai. This role has resulted in her appointment to two fintech company Advisory Boards: HashChing and Investfit. Helen is leading a number of key initiatives in the superannuation space which involve the identification, sourcing and curating of high quality fintech and online market start-ups for potential investment by Funds.
Helen previously established the Joint Venture, Elders Financial Planning, between ANZ and Elders and held the position of CEO for 5 years. Prior to that Helen held the positions of Head of Wealth Strategy and Head of Channel and Segment Marketing for Personal Banking & Wealth Management for the ANZ Group based in Melbourne.
Prior to her time in Melbourne, Helen managed CBA's retail managed funds business during its $10.8B acquisition of Colonial which included the integration of 80 core and peripheral systems and 645 products.
Helen holds a Bachelor of Commerce from UNSW, is a Graduate of the AICD, a Fellow of Finsia has served as a Director, Responsible Manager and Advisory Board member on nine financial services Boards.
