FINSIA is looking for volunteers to help with submissions in 2023, starting with a Treasury examination of Climate-Related Disclosures.
Head of Education Kylie Blundell SA FIN, who will be co-ordinating FINSIA’s response, said: “It is an important part of FINSIA’s role to complement the work of policymakers and advocate on behalf of our members.
“Given the growing impact of climate and sustainability on financial services, it is that important that FINSIA makes its views known to Treasury.
“That’s why we are looking to include additional volunteers from our member base who we know will bring a diverse range of experiences and expertise from the financial services sector to help formulate FINSIA’s submission.”
The Treasury invitation states it is seeking “initial views on key considerations for the design and implementation of the Government’s commitment to standardised, internationally‑aligned requirements for disclosure of climate-related financial risks and opportunities in Australia.”
It also seeks views on changes needed to ensure Australia’s financial reporting bodies are appropriately positioned for the expansion of international standard-setting priorities on climate and sustainability reporting.
Initial views are sought by 17th February with further consultation carried out later in 2023 on the specific design proposal, new reporting requirements, their implementation and sequencing.
To contribute to FINSIA’s submission, which is due by 17th February, please contact [email protected] by COB 3rd February.
