Female participation in fintechs has flatlined.
The results from this year's Fintech Australia and EY Fintech Census show female participation in the fintech workforce has stagnated at 29 per cent, the same figure as last year.
This indicates more needs to be done to encourage women to work and take leadership roles in fintechs, especially given there are financial rewards for firms that support gender diversity in their operations.
According to recent research by management consultants McKinsey, “companies in the top quartile for gender diversity on executive teams were 25 percent more likely to have above-average profitability than companies in the fourth quartile.”
Founder and managing partner of venture capital firm Seed Space, Dirk Steller, is among those calling for more gender diversity in the fintech sector.
