I am writing to announce the outcome of the recent Board Director election process for 2023.
At FINSIA’s Annual General Meeting, held in-person in Sydney and online, members were advised that one new director and two current directors have been elected to the FINSIA Board for a three-year period commencing from today.
Australian Banking Association Deputy CEO and COO, Vanessa Beggs F FIN, joins the Board after receiving the backing of members, alongside current President David Cox F FIN and Vice President Grant Cairns F FIN.
Both Mr Cox and Mr Cairns were standing for re-election after their three-year term in office triggered automatic retirement under the FINSIA Constitution.
Professor Robina Xavier, a member of FINSIA’s Board since 2017, also retired at the AGM, and did not seek re-election for a new term.
Vanessa has worked in the financial services industry for more than 20 years, holding senior roles in a variety of organisations prior to joining the Australian Banking Association in her current role.
With her deep experience and knowledge in governance, strategy, finance and developing capability, Vanessa is keen to see FINSIA strengthen its role as a leading membership body for financial services professionals in Australia and New Zealand.
Vanessa’s executive experience spans financial services, government, and the not-for-profit sectors, holding roles in strategy, business transformation and organisational development.
David has more than 25 years’ experience in professional services in Australia, New York and the Middle East. He has a strong knowledge of the financial services sector, having worked with a broad cross section of the industry, including banks, brokers, exchanges, fintechs, leasing companies, payment providers, private equity and non-bank financiers.
Grant is the Executive General Manger, Business Lending at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial services sector through a variety of roles, including General Manager with McCarroll Automotive Group and as a Senior Accountant at KPMG. He is also a Director of the Australian Business Growth Fund and a member of the CEO Circle.
On behalf of the entire FINSIA membership community, I would like to thank all our candidates who nominated for election to the Board this year. It is pleasing to see such strong support from amongst our members to play a stewardship role in guiding the strategic direction of the organisation for the coming years.
Please join me in congratulating Vanessa, David and Grant on their election and re-election to the Board for 2023.
