At this event, you will gain exclusive insights from senior leaders on the challenges, changes and key career decisions they have faced in their careers. Get ready to build on essential leadership and networking skills with like-minded professionals.

How it works  

At each table, there will be a small group of professionals and one experienced leader. You’ll have the opportunity to talk about your career, receive valuable advice about how to make the most of the opportunities ahead of you and listen to what challenges your peers are currently facing. 

Throughout the night you will have the opportunity to change tables, giving you the chance to get a range of different perspectives and meet with fellow attendees. With two networking sessions, you’ll also have time to search out and pick the brains of the senior leaders you admire as well as build your network.

All registrations will open until Wednesday 20th August or allocation exhausted. Registration requests submitted after Wednesday 20th August will be processed on a case-by-case basis.

Alistair Cowan

Head of Advice, JBWere

Alistair joined JBWere in 2019, and has more than 15 years’ experience in financial services across wholesale banking, wealth management and broking businesses in the UK and Australia.

He is currently the Head of Advice in SA/NT and a Responsible Manager for JBWere’s AFSL.

In addition, he also manages the Advice Analysts and Wealth Advisors across JBWere’s South Australian and Western Australian offices - developing the next generation of Advisors.

His previous roles include positions at National Australia Bank, Barclays Investment Bank and Goldman Sachs. Alistair holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business, majoring in Economics & Finance and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course.

Fiona Dorman

President, National Council of Women SA

Fiona holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) and has worked in research across haematology, adult stem cells, oncology drug development, and orthopaedics.

She is an active community leader, currently serving as President of the National Council of Women Australia and Chair of the Premier’s Council for Women in South Australia. Fiona also co-founded the South Australian Women’s Fund and sits on the board of St Peter’s College.

Her previous roles include Deputy Chair of the Australia Day Council of SA and volunteer with RPH Adelaide (Vision Australia).

Fiona is a strong advocate for gender equity and social inclusion, working closely with community groups on issues such as women’s rights, economic participation, and domestic violence. She has represented NCW Australia at international forums, including the International Council of Women and the Women20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 2024, where she contributed to shaping policy recommendations for G20 nations to advance gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.

Fiona also has interests in a range of business ventures, from emerging start-ups to established enterprises.

Kate Russell

Co-Head of Institutional SA & Director – Strategic Engagement, SA Government 

Kate currently leads the South Australian Government banking relationship and Co-Heads the broader Institutional business for ANZ in South Australia. Kate has held a number of roles within the Institutional banking segment in client facing roles.

Kate is passionate about diversity and inclusion and sits on the Women in Banking and Finance State Leadership Committee. Kate’s leadership motto is “I will always make time for you” and is committed to developing the next generation of leaders.

Outside of work, Kate is mum to two young girls and is married to Scott. Kate is a passionate South Australian enjoying weekends at the beach or at a local winery.

She has a Masters in International Trade and Commerce Law and a Bachelor of Business.

Julian Sakowski

Regional Manager (SA, WA and Business Banking), Bendigo Bank

I am a banking and finance professional with both domestic and international experience in >30 year career working across multiple segments of banking – Commercial, Corporate and Institutional Banking.

As a member of state and national leadership teams over my career, I have enjoyed developing and executing strategy in line with organisational vision and divisional strategic goals.

My current role as Regional Manager Business Banking SA & WA for Bendigo Bank is a leadership and coaching role as the division seeks to grow its market share in line with a vision to be a leading Business Bank by 2029.

My career has been complemented by experience in the corporate sector, working in the corporate treasury of a large internationally focused agricultural exporter.

I have a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Adelaide.

I am married to Kathryn, and have two grown up children, both living and working overseas in their chosen fields. After 25 years living and working in NSW, Victoria and the UK, I am very pleased to once again call Adelaide home.
